Friday's 10 Happy Things vol.3

Again, this came in a day late...yikes....but that's better than never! Here are 10 things that made me happy this week:
1. Painting again. It's been quite a while since I painted again. I don't know what came to me that morning but when I woke up I just felt inspired to create something. It's Rapunzel with green hair and sleeves!

2. Reading "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami. The moment that I started reading this book (which was two days ago), I was immediately drawn to it. I've always been a fan of Haruki Murakami so I'm really glad I decided to read this book. There's something about this that just pulls you further as you turn the pages. You have to read it to see what I'm talking about.

"A poignant story of one college student's romantic coming-of-age, Norwegian Wood takes us to that distant place of a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love." (read more)

I'm only into the first 134 pages but I've found so many good quotes already. Here are some of them:

  • •  "We forged straight ahead, as if our walking were a religious ritual meant to heal our wounded spirits."

  • •   "That's the kind of death that frightens me. The shadow of death slowly, slowly eats away at the region of life, and before you know it everything's dark and you can't see, and the people around you think of you as more dead than alive."

  • •   "Please forgive me if anything I've written here upsets you. As I said before, I am a far more flawed human being than you realize."
3. Reading World War 2 love letters. My heart.
  • •   "The darned old moon keeps shining for us, darling — and even as it now increases that inescapable loneliness, it also increases my confidence in the future." (full text)

  • •   "In your letter of Jan 21st you mentioned me learning you how to maybe cook dehydrated foods if possible. Well, Honey, don’t worry. I love you so much that I’m willing to teach you anything I know." (full text)

  • •   "How about seeing you in New York this coming week-end? I could really go for a good steak. But I would rather see you." (full text)

  • •   FEELS

4. Getting excited for my major subjects related to film. I'll probably regret writing this when I actually take the subjects and experience "hell week" but for now I'm letting myself get excited. Hahaha

5. Rain.

6. Writing poems.

7. Friday sunset.

8. Casa de Monet in Giverny, France. Claude Monet is my favourite Impressionist painter so his home in France is definitely included in my bucket list!

"Claude Monet was a key figure in the Impressionist movement that transformed French painting in the second half of the nineteenth century." (Read more and see his artworks here)

9. Listening to Beach Fossils all night. My current favorite is Sleep Apnea.

10. Finding lovely quotes. This is for another post! :) #SoulSundays

Friday's 10 Happy Things Vol. 2

This came in a day late but that's better than never! Here are 10 things that made me happy this week:

  1. 1. Finishing P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. Oh, the feels. I want a pocketbook version of this just so I could carry it close to me. That's how much I love this book.

  2. 2. Jenny Han favoriting my tweet about the book! ASDFGHJKL

  3. 3. Strolling around U.P. Campus with my best friend. Kristel and I decided to check the place out since she'll be studying there for college. We rode the U.P. Ikot, if I'm not mistaken, for four times just to get to certain places. Getting lost was the fun part.

  4. We then went to the Sunken Garden. When Kristel and I were talking, I noticed a couple intensely making out behind a tree! LOL

  5. Cool art in the College of Mass Communication Building

  6. 4. Finally trying Zarks Burger. Unfornately, I don't have any picture of the food, only the aftermath, and it wasn't pretty. Hahaha. Nonetheless, the food was a-ma-zing. I learned they have a branch in Taft so....*evil laugh*.

  7. 5. Laughing hysterically along Katipunan. Kristel had a Mary Poppins moment when she opened her umbrella and boy, she really did open that thing.

  8. 6. Worlds of Fun with the best friend. Precious times <3

  9. 7. Finally buying some CDs for me to burn songs on.

  10. 8. Trying the Atomic (the hottest flavour) chicken wings at WingStreet in Taguig. I'm a sucker for spicy food so I just had to try this one! It didn't disappoint.

  11. 9. Having deep, meaningful and fun conversations with my best friends.

  12. 10. Finding inspiration for my new place. I like the designing part. The living far from my parents? Not so much....

Friday's 10 Happy Things Vol. 1

This week has been the chillest so far, figuratively and literally. Hmm or probably, it's just because of the weather....Anyway, I had a lot of fun this week, minus the fact that I'm sick!!!!! Shoot me now. Last night, I can't even watch the TV properly since my eyes get so sensitive to the light! Enough of my sickness, let's move on to a more positive vibe! Here are 10 things that made me happy this week:

  1. 1. The rain. Need I say more? Pluviophile present!

  2. 2. Staying in bed all day in this weather while reading a book or watching a movie or just surfing the internet. Everything's better in this weather, seriously.

  3. 3. Having an excuse to wear my sweaters. While some people choose to wear floral sundresses/ shorts and sandals to combat the heat, I prefer to wear the jeans + shirt + boots combo even on the summer. Heck, the only time I get to wear a dress is when an occassion calls for it, other than that, I'd rather profusely sweat in my black shirt, thank you.

  4. 4. Playing the piano again after so long. I'm trying to play Not About Angels by Birdy. The sound of the piano is so soothing and beautiful, I don't even know why I stopped in the first place.

  5. 5. Reading P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han while raining. I'm halfway through and damn it's so good. I love this book so much.

  6. 6. Writing on my journal every night. This is my way of coping up with some things; I'm glad I gave this a shot again. Back then, I'd attempt to journalize everyday but end up abandoning the pages. This time, I'm more inspired.

  7. 7. Drafting a post entitled 17 Things I Learned By 17. Writing this article has made me realize a lot of things. So far, I've only written 8 things. I'll definitely add more as months go by.

  8. 8. Discovering cool indie rock tracks on sondcloud. I'll be sharing another playlist soon!! As of now, my favorite find would be On An On's Drifting. Lyrics = Exact feels!!!

  9. 9. Getting lost in the Berlin-artparasites and Humans of New York Facebook pages. I bet everyone in the internet knows these two pages as they have hundreds and millions of followers, afterall. But for the sake of those who don't....Berlin-artparasites is a page full of literature and art while Humans of New York, if you already haven't figured out from the title, is a page full of humans of New York; Brandon Stanton, the man behind it all, interviews random people, and in connection, he publishes their words on the internet in hopes of inspiring everyone. Whenever I visit these two pages, I always feel a sense of relief because there are some days when I'm feeling down, and all I want is to know if someone feels the same way too. Then, I'm not that lonely anymore.

  10. 10. Hanging out with my father yesterday. After we dropped off my mother at her work place, he and I headed for the mall to have my dental x-ray (I'm getting braces! FML). We ate breakfast while talking about current events. I made him buy me a book. Hehe. We bought so many office supplies, it was crazy. Basically, we just raided the entire National Bookstore. On the ride home, we talked about the Beatles, as always, and when I mentioned that I haven't seen Hinulugang Taktak yet, he took a detour for me to have a peek of the falls even when the weather's far from okay. It's always, always, a great time with him.

How about you? How is your week so far? Let's talk.
